This FACE IT painting of Rachel Cargle, public academic, writer, lecturer, and activist, shows Rachel’s strength and care in the revolution and the fight for racial justice.

The symbolism for this painting was inspired by the viral photo of Rachel Cargle with a raised fist from the 2017 Women’s March.  In “Rest and Revolution”, Rachel is depicted with her raised fist and her other hand over her heart.  The color that flows from each hand illustrates the strength and the self-care that flows from within her to inspire the world.
